800/900 Pay Per Call
Relay South Dakota provides a toll-free 900 number which connects relay callers to any 900 or 800 Pay Per Call services. The caller is responsible for direct billing.

Answering Machine Retrieval
TTY users can request Relay South Dakota to retrieve voice messages from their answering machines (single-line).

To request AMR, type "ANS/MACH RETRIEVAL (AMR) GA". The CA will respond "PLS PLACE YOUR HANDSET NEXT TO YOUR ANS MACHINE AND TURN ON GA". Place your handset above the answering machine speaker and play the recorder. The answering machine light indicator or number(s) will show that all messages have been retrieved. Then place the handset back on the TTY and type "GA". The CA types the messages back to you.

Automatic Number Identification Permanent Branding
Customers may request relay to permanently brand their call type. This can be done through the on-line personalized profile or by calling Relay South Dakota Customer Service.

Customer Database
Customer Database is a service for relay users to enter specific information into their customer profile. When a profile is established, the information will be activated automatically on the CA screen, which expedites the call set-up and indicates user's preference for processing their calls. Your personalized profile can be accessed online, or by calling Customer Service.

Directory Assistance (DA)
Directory Assistance for both local and long distance numbers is provided through Relay South Dakota. Provide relay with area code and name of business or person. When number is obtained, the caller may place the call through relay or call direct.

Emergency Assistance
In case of emergency, TTY users should call the TTY equipped 9-1-1 center or emergency services center in their community directly. Customers should verify the TTY emergency phone numbers in their area.
Utilizing 9-1-1 through Relay South Dakota, the CA will transfer automatically/immediately to an appropriate Public Safety Access Point (PSAP)

Carrier of Choice (COC)
Relay SD passes the caller's preferred long distance carrier at its regional or state access tandems. The carrier is responsible for message tariffs, discount rates if any, and billing to the end users. Callers can request their preferred carrier, if not Sprint, for each relay call or register the carrier information into their Customer Database profile. If no preferred carrier is given, the long distance carrier will be defaulted to Sprint.

Coin Sent Paid (TTY Pay Phone)
TTY users may use a coin TTY payphone to place a call through Relay South Dakota. All local calls are free of charge, and alternate billing options are available for toll calls (long distance).

Caller ID
Relay calls placed through Relay South Dakota will provide the calling party number, or Caller ID information for all local and most long distance calls.

Deaf-Blind Pacing (Slow Typing)
Relay South Dakota has ability to slow the transmission of data to Deaf-Blind users. The default speed is 15 words per minute and the speed can be increased at the caller's request in 5 words per minute increments.

Inbound and Outbound International
From any international location outside the United States, callers can reach South Dakota Relay through the International inbound number, 605-224-1837.

Last Number Redial
Callers may request the CA to redial the last number. Relay South Dakota platform stores the last number dialed, which can be dialed again upon the caller's request.

Relay South Dakota Customer Service
Customer service is available to assist with TTY calls or to receive customer suggestions, comments and complaints. When calling about a specific incident, please remember to provide the CA's identification number, date and time of call. Or, for assistance during a relay call, callers may ask to speak to the CA's supervisor.

Turbo Code
South Dakota Relay offers Ultratec Turbo Code to relay users. This feature allows users to send information at the same speed it is typed, resulting in a more natural flow of conversations and the ability to interrupt one another.
